Distinguished Gentlemen is a mentoring program designed to support the unique needs and interests of 4th – 12th grade boys from disenfranchised communities in Alachua County.
Distinguished Gentlemen started in 2013 as an after school club for 4th and 5th grade boys at Williams Elementary.
This gave students a chance to connect with their peers and with Mr. Reid. We focused on academic tutoring, mentorship, and fun. This gave students a safe place to be after school.
The original name was Williams’ Gentlemen’s Club. After a few years, it was laid on the heart of the founder, Mr. Reid, to change the name. The name changed to Distinguished Gentlemen in 2017.
Since then, we’ve expanded to service elementary, middle and high school young men. We pride ourselves in creating experiences these young men will cherish for a lifetime. We dine at 5-star restaurants, we travel across the country, we visit colleges and universities, and even bring in guest speakers to water the seeds that have been planted in their lives. All of this is done to prepare them for a successful life journey.
